In order to accommodate viewers operating with significant time constraints or hardware limitations, most pages here are designed with fast download needs in mind.

Therefore we follow these general guidelines in our web presentations:

• HTML text files are kept to an average of 10K in size.
• Image files are used sparingly, and large images generally avoided.
• Animations generally are not used.
• Text tags are appended to image-based links to facilitate image-disabled browsing.
• Frames are used sparingly.
• Tables are used for some page menus, but generally not in combination with images.
• Scripts (CGI and JAVA) and maps are used selectively.
